Smoothie King Eyeing Newtown Location

A conditional use application submitted by Smoothie King will be reviewed Tuesday by the Newtown Township Planning Commission.

Smoothie King, a chain that serves an array of smoothies and health food products, is looking to open a location in the Village at Newtown South Shopping Center.

The Newtown Township Planning Commission on Tuesday is scheduled to review a conditional use application for Smoothie King. The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m.

According to its website, Smoothie King offers a variety of products, including smoothies, snacks and vitamin supplements.

Smoothie King's founder Steve Kuhna invented the smoothie in the late 60s, the website states. He opened the first store in 1973 and since then, the chain has grown to more than 600 locations nationwide and in Seoul, Korea.
