State Street Merchants Bringing Back 'First Saturdays'

Newtown Borough Merchants are hosting First Saturdays. The monthly event debuts April 6 on State Street.

First Saturdays in Newtown are back.

Newtown Borough merchants are bringing back the monthly event on April 6 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. That day, many State Street stores and restaurants will be hosting sidewalk sales, food tastings, discounts and in-store specials.

David Witchell, Newtown Bike Shop, Newtown Book and Record Exchange and The Pro Shop will have sidewalk sales.

Both The Brick Hotel Restaurant and The Temperance House will be offering discounted lunch with a receipt from any State Street business from that day.

  • Becky’s Newtown Deli will be offering a specially-priced sandwich and is hosting a contest to win a hoagie tray. 
  • Love Illuminati will be hosting a handmade jewelry show by local artisans from WHIM, as well as unveiling a secret stash of vintage clothing.  
  • A caricature artist will be set up at Countryside Framing from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • There will be free Frisbees for the kids at The Tubby Olive, as well as a raffle to win one of their new “Salad Tub” gift items. 
  • Soulutions for Daily Living will offer a free herbal votive candle for new customers.
  • One-Ten Salon is offering $5 discount on haircuts  
  • Studio 35 is offering an Aveda candle with each donation of $12 towards “Clean Ocean Action” 
  • Newtown Hardware House is launching a new line of gardening supplies and fishing items as well as free fresh-popped popcorn.
