Just to clarify, the outdoor pool concept is designed to be a resort style place of relaxation and socialization for members and families. There will be an adult only pool next to the restaurant that will serve wine and beer. This area will be well managed and low key to offer those who choose the opportunity to join friends for a bite and a glass of wine or beer in the early evening or weekend while spending time in comfort poolside. This will be one more amenity that we can offer our members.

Great, as if there are not enough places in town to have something to eat and drink alcohol vs a place where families can go to participate in healthy fun activities; without the presence of alcohol. I did not see the need to have a resort in our family gym. So if you own a successful business you can buy what you want?? So who is going to make sure the kids get home safe from their friday night dance after Mom and Dad are all juiced up from waiting at the bar?? Or have a few drinks then try to excerise? We already have a big problem with under age drinking in todays youth especially in this township. Where do we draw the line and start setting examples for our children? As a member of the NAC I would love to now how much more my membership will go up,; its already way over priced!

Unbelievable! How does an exercise/athletic facility warrant serving alcohol? This reeks of political pay off. I'm thoroughly disgusted. And the membership at the "NAC" is so outrageous that they won't even quote you a price over the phone or via email. What a joke.

Exactly Becky, PAY OFF.. being the key words, I can see no other reason. I also wonder why I had so much trouble following this story on Newtown Patch. Maybe NAC paided them off to hide this entire articial. I'll be waiting for a reply Kara, I know its coming LOL.

Of course, then there is the fact that the NAC is raising rates for all members to pay for the new resort. I have no problem if they want to expand their business to the resort concept, but I see no reason why current members who will not be using this new part should have to buy in. When I joined, years and years ago, I joined a health club and that is what I want. I don't want a social club, a family resort, an adult pool where I can lounge and drink - I want a gym, a good gym with a lot of options, and so I pay the high fees at NAC to get that. I do not want to pay more for, basically, a new business added on.

Pasting my comment from below here so Linda can see it. It has been expressed to the staff and management of the NAC, only to be told I have to try it. No, I do not. It is not a product I wish to purchase. I am an introvert. Sitting around a pool with a bunch of bathing suited adults I do not know is the most uncomfortable thing I can possibly imagine. I will be leaving the NAC after 10 years when my rates are raised due to this. THERE IS NO REASON THE NAC CAN NOT GIVE CURRENT MEMBERS AN OPTION OUT. The argument given to me by Ms. Mitchell was that the township did not want them selling pool-only memberships. This does not disallow them from giving current members, who purchased GYM memberships, a gym only option!

WOW! I didn't realize the membership fee at "The NAC" is increasing in order to pay for the PAY OFF. What a disgrace.

It's ridiculous that the NAC is forcing it's members to to pay through the nose for the new Resort option membership. They should be able to pick and choose the services. Maybe Worthington is banking on all those moving into the $2,000 per month ,1 bedroom apts he's building to support this folly. Newtown is Not the Hamptons,or Greenwich,Conn. Just wait until he tacks on a food and drink fee to the membership dues just like a country club. And to serve alcohol at a health club is the height of irresponsibility. But anything for the buck.

It's curious to me that one would pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for something that would only be used seasonally. I think they have other plans for that liquor license...

Oh, without a doubt, there are other plans. I'd bet anything that we're not yet getting the entire story. Money talks, and Mr. W. has PLENTY of it. And yes, Newtown can certainly use just one MORE overpriced cookie cutter (albeit silver plated) townhouse neighborhood to add to the massive traffic and parking issues that we've suffered with for the last 20 years. But then I guess if you live on an estate with many acres and no traffic, it doesn't really bother you too much.

Newsflash, people have been drinking alcohol at the swim clubs for years in water bottles and red solo cups. lol the question is are they going to want to pay $10. a drink or just keep putting it in a container they bring in. just sayin.

Liquor at a health club-- seriously?!?!? That's so absurd, and completely contrary to what they represent themselves as being. Of course a beer by the pool is nice, but if that's what you're looking for join a country club, not a fitness club!

It is a bad idea. A liquor license does not fit into the prototype of a "fitness club." AND, you are forcing long-term patrons to cancel their memberships because they do not want to pay for this new addition. It is bad business; nothing more than money driven greed and development. At one time the industrial park was beautiful fields of wild flowers, now it has become about how many buildings developers can squeeze into one space. It's shameful!

Newtown mom I believe I'm entitled to comment freely as is everyone else here. I was actually a charter member of the Newtown Racquet Club years ago. The club has grown in leaps and bounds since then which is great. My concerns are valid and not "whining". If you have a problem with me stating my opinion, I'm sorry for you.
