Welcome Day Organizers Seeking Artists

Newtown's Welcome Day is scheduled for May 6 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Planning for Welcome Day is underway and organizers are seeking artists to display at the event, which is scheduled for May 6 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.  The annual event, a community fair along Sycamore Street, is organized by the Newtown Business Association.

“Once again we are putting together a great collection of talented artists of various mediums to present to the thousands of Welcome Day visitors,” said an announcement on the Newtown Business Association website.

Artists who are interested should download and mail the application from the Newtown Business Association’s website or register online. Sample images of the artwork should also accompany the application. Images in pdf or jpeg form should be emailed to pennstrailselfstorage@gmail.com.

All applications must be submitted by April 6. If the application is postmarked by March 16, the fee is $65 per space. Applications postmarked after the 16th should include a $90 fee. The application fee is nonrefundable.

Each artist will have a 10 x 10 space where they can display their works. All exhibits must be the original work of the artist.

It would be awesome if State Street businesses knew something about this

State Steet business all should know about Welcome Day. It is not something new and has been on State Street for years until business owners complained it took away from their business, which I find hard to believe when there a so many extra people in the boro to shop and notice the store fronts to come back another time and shop. It since was moved from Sat. to Sundays and moved from the main part of St. Street to the residential end of town.

That a lame comment...boro biz owner. As a Newtown Biz Owner, you should be a member of the NBA. That way you get all emails and info about events. The Welcome Day committee is always looking for help. Be proactive instead of just sitting around and saying you don't know anything.
