NUMEROUS COLLEGES EXTEND EARLY APPLICATION DEADLINES

Numerous colleges have pushed back their early application deadlines, to accommodate students having technical difficulties with the Common Application.Colleges including Barnard, Columbia, Dartmouth, Duke, Northwestern, Tufts and the University of Chicago have extended their deadlines from Nov. 1 to Nov. 8.

Boston University has pushed its deadline to November 15.Many students choose to apply either "early decision" or "early action" to their top schools in the hope of getting accepted early in their senior year and alleviating the stress of waiting until the spring to find out where they have been accepted.  A student is allowed to apply to only one college "early decision," and is bound to attend the college, if accepted.  Students are allowed to apply to as many colleges as they like "early action" and any acceptance is non-binding.
