SOLEBURY SCHOOL COMMENDED STUDENTS AND SEMI-FINALIST IN THE 2014 NATIONAL MERIT SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM NAMED

Tom Wilschutz, Head of Solebury School is pleased to announce that senior Matthew Keefe of Doylestown has been named as a semifinalist in the National Merit Scholarship Program. Officials of National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced the names of approximately 16,000 semifinalists in the 59th Annual National Merit Scholarship Program.

These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue inthe competition for 8,000 National Merit Scholarships worth about $35 million thatwill be offered next spring. To be considered for a Merit Scholarship award, semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the finalist level of thecompetition.About 90 percent of the semifinalists are expected to attain finalist standing, and more than half of the finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar title.In addition, Solebury School seniors Sophia Bridgers of Solebury and Eli Sadoff ofRichboro have been named Commended students in the 2014 National Merit ScholarshipProgram. A letter of commendation from the school and the NMSC will be presented by the principal to these scholastically talented seniors.About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although they will not continue in the 2014 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, Commended Students placed among the top five percent of more than 1.5 million student who entered the 2014 competition by taking the 2012 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
