5 Things You Need to Know Today: April 11

Essential information about the day ahead in Newtown.

1. It's going to be warm today. Dress for the weather; forecasters are calling for a high of 86.

2. Newtown Restaurant Week started last night and goes through Thursday. A dozen local restaurants will be participating in the event, which features a special prix fixe menu for $35.

3. Two Council Rock High School North students, sophomores Larissa Witte and Stefani Ruzic, are organizing a children's book drive to benefit The Providence Center that starts today and runs until Friday. Collection boxes for early picture books to chapter books will be located throughout Council Rock High School North and at the on Eagle Road.

4. Newtown Middle School PTO will have a meeting this morning at 9:30 a.m.

5. Council Rock High School South's orchestra will have a farewell performance tonight featuring pieces the students will play in Paris, Nice, and Monte Carlo during the upcoming spring break. Proceeds will jointly benefit the orchestra and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation  The event is open to all; a $10 is suggested.
