5 Things You Need to Know Today: April 15

Essential information about the day ahead in Newtown.

1. Typically April 15 is synonymous with Tax Day, but this year the deadline has been extended to April 18.

2. Today is the last day to donate your gently-used children's books to benefit The Providence Center. The book drive is organized by Council Rock High School North students Larissa Witte and Stefani Ruzic. Collection boxes for early picture books up to chapter books will be located throughout Council Rock High School North and at the on Eagle Road.

3. Early registration for Newtown Township's summer camp ends today. Registration after April 15 will result in higher fees. To learn more about the township's camp offerings, visit www.newtownfun.com or call 215-968-2800, ext. 239.

4. Carlin Romano, editor and contributor to the "Philadelphia Noir" short-story collection, will speak today at starting at noon. This free event is part of the college's Wordsmiths Reading Series. For more information, call 215-968-8150.

5. will host a Tasting Tour of Spain tonight starting at 7:30 p.m. The event will feature a sampling of Spanish wines. Learn about one of the world's fastest emerging quality wine regions from a knowledgeable sommelier. Tickets are $40, which includes wine tasting and learning materials.
