5 Things You Need to Know Today: April 21

Essential information about the day ahead in Newtown

1. In commemoration of Earth Day, which is Friday, there will be a free screening of the documentary "GasLand" today at Bucks Couty Community College. The film begins at noon. GasLand, a film by Josh Fox, narrates environmental damage from natural gas explorations.

2. Newtown Township Parks and Recreation is hosting a AARP Driver Safety class this morning from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The class is $14; $12 for AARP members. The refresher class for mature drivers can lead to a discount on insurance for those over 55. Check with your insurance provider for more information.

3. As part of its annual Arts at Bucks festival, Bucks County Community College students are performing the East Coast premier of the play "Addicted." The play opens tonight, with an 8 p.m. performance. There are also performances on Friday and Saturday. For more information, visit www.bucks.edu.

4. Today is Holy Thursday. The Parish Office at St. Andrew's Catholic Church will be closed and there will be no regular 6:45 or 9 a.m. masses. However, there will be a 9 a.m. morning prayer, as well as a 7:30 p.m. Mass of the Lord's Supper.

5. Get into the Easter spirit early. "Hop," a PG-rated film from the creators of "Despicable Me" is playing tonight at the Newtown Theatre at 7 p.m. For more information, go to www.newtowntheatre.com.
