5 Things You Need to Know Today: August 15

Essential information about the day ahead in Newtown.

1. It will be another rainy day today. Forecasters are calling for an 80 percent chance of rain and temperatures in the high 70s.

2. The Newtown Township Board of Supervisors will meet tonight for a work session at 7:30 p.m. at the municipal building. The agenda includes a discussion of plans for the old Acme site on Sycamore Street. Click here to view the full agenda.

3. "The Change-Up," a comedy from the same writers of the "The Hangover" is still playing at the Newtown Theatre. There is a 7:30 p.m. screening tonight.

4. Registration is still open for Newtown Township Parks and Recreation's Mythbusters Workshop for kids ages 7 to 12. The three-day workshop, which begins Monday Aug. 22 and goes until Wednesday Aug. 24, is inspired by the television show. Children will have the chance to experiment and find out if myths are true or false. The cost is $75 for residents, $94 for nonresidents. Click here for more information.
