5 Things You Need to Know Today: December 8

Essential information about the day ahead in Newtown.

 

1. The rain should finally clear out today. It will be cool though. Expect sunny skies and temperatures in the mid 40s.

2. 's Percussion Ensemble will perform a free concert tonight in the Presser Music Room beginning at 7:30 p.m.

3. Bucks County Community College's Book Discussion Group will meet tonight at 7:30 p.m. The group will discuss The Imperfectionist by Tom Rachman. The meeting is free and open to the public. It will be held in the Student Lounge, located next to the Fireside Lounge on the lower level in the Rollins Center.

4. Newtown Township Parks and Recreation will host a AARP Renewal Course today at 1 p.m. The four-hour course is for those who have previously taken the eight-hour class within the past four years. If your insurance company offers a discount, this renewal course meets approval. Participants must bring proof of previous class completion such as copy of certificate or insurance bill. The cost is $14, or $12 with AARP membership.

5. Are your kids itching to see Santa? He'll be at Shady Brook Farm today from 5 to 9 p.m.  Santa's Village at Shady Brook Farm is open from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 5 to 10 p.m. on Fridays, 12 to 10 p.m. on Saturdays and 12 to 9 p.m. on Sundays.
