February 20: Schools Closed For Presidents Day

Essential information about the day ahead in Newtown.

 

1. The forecast is calling for partly sunny skies with temperatures in the mid 40s today.

2. Today is Presidents Day. All Council Rock schools are closed for the holiday.

3. Borough and township offices are also closed for the holiday. There will be no mail delivery and banks are closed, too.

4. The Newtown Historic Association and the Newtown Library Company are hosting a joint program tonight in celebration of Black History Month. Reenactor Kim Hanley will portray Lucretia Mott; St. Mark’s AME Zion Choir and the Macedonia Baptist Church Choir will perform music. The free program starts at 8 p.m. at the Newtown Theatre.

5. Part one of "Clinton" airs tonight at 9 p.m. on PBS's "American Experience." The four-hour program, which will air over two nights, is a biography on the 42nd president.  According to the Huffington Post, the proram features interviews with Bill Clinton's closest advisors, who provide insight into the president's affair with Monica Lewinksy.
