5 Things You Need to Know Today: July 13

Essential information about the day ahead in Newtown.

1. It's going to cool down a bit from yesterday (thankfully). Temperatures today are expected to be in the high 80s, with sunny skies.

2. The Newtown Township Board of Supervisors meets tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Administration Building. Click here to view the agenda.

3. A new $2,500 scholarship is now available at Bucks County Community College, thanks to Bucks County Bank. The first Bucks County Bank Future Business Leader Scholarship will be awarded this fall to a student majoring in business administration, accounting, office administration and systems technology, or small-business management in the Business Studies Department. Applicants must have completed at least 24 credits at the college, possess a minimum 2.0 cumulative grade-point-average, and be enrolled for at least nine credits. 4. Help a group of local kids in their effort to send care packages to the troops, and enjoy some lemonade in the meantime. The lemonade stand will be up each Wednesday from 1 to 3 p.m. through the end of July at 16 South Norwood Avenue in the borough. People who stop by can drop off letters, donations for care packages, grab a cup of lemonade, or even sit down to make a card to send overseas. It is open for kids and adults of all ages. 5. The Village Library's "Toddler Time" is today from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Children 8 months to 3 years old can enjoy story time and meet new friends.
