5 Things You Need to Know Today: September 29

Essential information about the day ahead in Newtown.

1.Rosh Hashanah has begun. In recognition of the Jewish holiday, Council Rock School District is closed.

2. It will be another wet one today, at least in the morning. Forecasters are calling for a chance of rain before noon with temperatures in the mid-70s.

3. If you are not observing Rosh Hashanah and need a place to send the kids today and Friday, the is hosting a "School's Out" camp for kids 6 to 12. There will be games, lunch, swimming and more. 4. There will be a big band jazz celebration tonight at the Temperance House from 8 to 10 p.m. It will feature vocalist Claudia Perry. Tickets are $10.

5.  "The Help" opened this week at the . There is a 7 p.m. showtime today.  Tickets are $9 for adults.
