5 Things You Need to Know Today: Weekend Edition

Essential information about the weekend ahead in Newtown.

1. Petsmart's National Adoption Weekend continues Saturday and Sunday Nov. 12 - 13. Stop in to meet adoptable pets and to learn more about bringing a pet home.

2. Council Rock's Carnival-themed Fall dance is taking place this Saturday from 6 to 10 p.m. The dance is semi-formal and if your kids arrive after 6:30 p.m., they won't be allowed in.

3. The Autism Cares Foundation will have its second In addition to the races, an autism expo will take place. The expo will have more than 50 local organizations on hand with information about autism-related resources.

4. It's never too early to get your . This Sunday, Nov. 13, head to Brownsburg Park in New Hope from 1 - 4 p.m. and get some great holiday shots. The event costs $5 for the sitting (bring your camera) and benefits Girl Scout Troop #22018.

5. A.C. Moore is hosting "Operation Christmas Card" on Saturday, Nov. 12, from 1 - 3 p.m. All materials necessary will be provided at the free card-making event. Cards will be sent to military personnel serving overseas in Afghanistan, Japan, Iraq, Egypt and Germany. The nearest locations are in Langhorne, Warminster and Bensalem.
