5 Things You Need to Know Weekend Edition: August 6 and 7

Essential information about the weekend ahead in Newtown.

1. The weather could be a toss up this weekend. While temperatures will loom in the mid 80s, there is a chance for thunderstorms both Saturday and Sunday.

2. "The Change-Up," a comedy starring Ryan Reynolds and Jason Bateman, opens this weekend at the Newtown Theatre. The movie, which is rated R, will show on Saturday at 7 and 9 p.m. On Sunday, there are screenings at 5 and 7 p.m. Visit www.newtowntheatre.com for more information.

3. The Wrightstown Farmers' Market is open today (Saturday) from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The market is located on Second Street Pike, next to the Wrightstown Township Municipal Building.

4. Philabundance will hold a drop off for its "Share the Harvest" program today (Saturday) from 10 a.m. to noon at Carousel Gardens on Durham Road. Share the Harvest encourages home gardeners to grow extra vegetables or collect any surplus vegetables from their harvest and donate to Philabundance to fight hunger in the Delaware Valley.

5. There is a "Farm to Table" dinner Sunday at. The dinner will include fresh, seasonal dishes from the local produce. A farm tour begins at 5 p.m., and will be followed by dinner at 6 p.m. Dishes will include: corn, pepper and onion quiche with red and chiogga beet medley; roast pork loin with heirloom tomato ratatouille stuffing; and peaches with Rosebank raspberry wine zabagalione sauce and honey polenta cake, among others.
