5 Things You Need to Know Weekend Edition: Oct. 1 & 2

Essential information about the weekend ahead in Newtown.

1. There's lots going on this weekend around town. Hopefully the forecast holds out. As of Friday, forecasters are calling for a chance of showers Saturday and sunny skies Sunday.

2. The annual Newtown Grant garage sale is today from 8 a.m. to noon. There will be hundreds of sellers with a range of items. Click here to learn more. Visit www.nggaragesale.com in the event of inclement weather to find out if the sale is still on.

3. Today is also Market Day. The 35th annual colonial craft and art fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Half Moon Inn on Court Street and Centre Ave. The event is sponsored by the Newtown Historic Association. Click here to learn more. The rain date is Sunday.

4. Another great family event Saturday is the Carousel Village Car Show. The event will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. and is free and open to the public. The show will be held at , at the parking lot by the back barn. Anyone who has a vehicle they are proud of can enter, organizers said. Entry is free and can be completed the day of the show.

5. If you're a locavore, then check out the Farm to Table dinner Sunday at . The menu will celebrate the fall harvest and introduce Milk House Farm ducks and chickens. Click here to view the menu and for contact information to RSVP. The cost is $60 per person.
