5 Things You Need to Know Weekend Edition: Sept. 17 & 18

Essential information about the weekend ahead in Newtown.

1. It looks like it is going to be a nice weekend with seasonal temperatures. Forecasters are calling for sunshine and temperatures in the mid 60s.

2. Philabundance is holding its second to last Share the Harvest collection day on Saturday. If you have surplus produce from your garden that you'd like to donate to those in need, then stop by one of two local Share the Harvest drop off sites: , 591 Durham Rd., and Seasons Garden Center, 1069 River Rd., Washington Crossing. Donations will be accepted from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

3. The Village Renaissance Faire will be held this weekend at the . The event will run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday. Proceeds from the event go to support the Village Library of Wrightstown. Admission is $5; children under 8 are free. Parking is free.

4. Looking for something fun to do with the kids this weekend? The Peddler’s Village 33rd Annual Scarecrow Festival will be held Saturday, and Sunday. The event, which will go from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days, will feature scarecrow-making workshops, pumpkin pie eating contests, pumpkin painting, live music and children’s activities. Free admission and parking. Rain or shine.

5. Crossing Vineyards will offer a "Dummies Guide to Wine Tasting" educational class on Sunday at 2 p.m.  The class is $30 and will give participants a chance to taste several different wines and sample some cheeses, while learning the basics of wine tasting.To reserve a spot click here or call 215-493-6500, ext. 19.
