5 Things You Need to Know Weekend Edition: September 10 & 11

Essential information about the weekend ahead in Newtown.

1.There's a chance we'll see some more rain this weekend. Forecasters are calling for a 30 percent chance of thunderstorms today and a 50 percent chance of thunderstorms Sunday. Temperatures should be in the low 80s throughout the weekend.

2. Newtown Pink, a team of five local women who are doing the Susan G. Komen 3-Day For a Cure Walk in October, will hold a pancake breakfast today from 8 to 10 a.m. at . The meal includes unlimited pancakes, sausage, coffee, tea, and orange juice. The cost is $8 per person.

3. Do you have documents that need to be destroyed? The First National Bank is sponsoring a free shredding event today at Bucks County Community College from 9 to 11 a.m. Participants can bring personal documents only. There’s a limit of four boxes per vehicle.

4. There will be two events this weekend at the Garden of Reflection to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Today at 7:30 p.m., there will be a candlelight vigil. Then on Sunday, there will be a special memorial service beginning at 8:46 a.m.

5. Looking for something to do Sunday? Head over to Northampton Days. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Richboro Middle School and will feature a car show, parade, talent show, activities, vendors and a blood-drive. Click here for more information.
