Anonymous Donor Gives Township 10 Trees for Nature Center

The Newtown TreeTenders are looking for volunteers to help plant the donated trees this Saturday.

Newtown needs your help planting trees this weekend.

An anonymous donor has given the township 10 trees for the Clark Nature Center and the Newtown TreeTenders have been asked to plant them.  The group is looking for volunteers to help in the effort this Saturday starting at 9 a.m.

Volunteers are also needed to do some basic yard care at the Nature Center, like light pruning and weed removal.

Work will take place in light rain or shine. If you can help, don’t forget to bring your gardening hand tools, work gloves, and safety glasses for pruning.

Newtown TreeTenders coordinator Autumn Thomas recommends volunteers also bring a bagged lunch, a drink of water, and sun protection lotion. If you can make it, contact Thomas at newtown.tree@comcast.net.

If you can’t make it Saturday, Thomas will be picking up the trees from Meadowbrook Farm on Friday and heading to Clark Nature Center, 235 Durham Road, to begin digging holes.

And if you’re busy all weekend but want to help out somehow, the TreeTenders are seeking to borrow gardening tools.
