Best of Newtown: Place To Take Your Valentine

Newtown Patch wants to know: where is the best place in town to take your Valentine?

Valentine's Day is just around the corner and, if you celebrate the holiday, it's a good time to start thinking of where you'll take your special someone.

Will you take your valentine to a romantic dinner, an entertaining movie or enjoy a decadent dessert? Help us find out the best place in town to take your valentine.

: Enjoy a romantic dinner while taking in views of downtown Newtown Borough.

: Relax in a cosy, historic atmosphere and enjoy a variety of sandwiches and entrees.

: Nothing says "I love you" like an Italian family-style meal.

: Take your sweetie to a flick at the historic Newtown Theatre.

After a homecooked meal, why not stroll over to Zebra Striped Whale and splurge on a sundae made for two?

With the mild temperatures we've been having, maybe you and your valentine will spend some time outdoors strolling through nature.

In the event of a tie in our survey, we will break the tie by counting the positive comments written below about the tied businesses, so please let us know why you think your choice is best.

The winning selection will be featured Friday on Newtown Patch.

I voted for La Stalla because it is "our place", but for a special occasion I sometimes like to mix it up with Florentino's!

I vote for Florentinos which isn't on the list. Great food and great service!

Florentino's! I hear Palate is really nice, too.

Newtown Theater has Newtown Arts live theater production of Pink Panther Strikes Again on Valentines. Very funny and lots of action!!! Tickets available at the door!!!!

I vote for Vecchia Osteria which should be on the list! They treat you like La Familia.

I voted for "none of these." Oishi is the best restaurant in Newtown and perhaps all of Bucks County.

Dislike !

Agree - totally dislike. Food is eh...a few good things on the menu but a lot that is bland. Went there for the last time a few weeks ago - sat next to a completely annoying, loud group of over-accessorized middle agers who had finished their meal when we got there, and just took up the poor waiter's table for the hour we were there.

LaStalla is also known for having Noisy customers !
Hank February 07, 2012 at 06:50 PM
Agreed. La Stalla is a terrible place to go with only a party of two. Prepare to be ignored.
Hank February 07, 2012 at 06:51 PM
You speak the truth. Whatever is good about Oishi is completely overshadowed by the obnoxious clientele.
Hank February 07, 2012 at 06:52 PM
Palate is very good. Nice atmosphere for dinner for two, and great execution by the kitchen..
Hmmmm February 08, 2012 at 01:03 AM
Wow, I never had a similar experience at Oishi. It's probably because I'm too busy looking into my Valentine's eyes to pay much attention to anyone else around me :)

Went to Oishi the first time a couple of weeks ago. Cannot understand why it's a popular place! Food was okay - just okay - but the service atrocious. The waiter reminded me of the stereotypical snooty French waiter, impatient and annoyed when we asked questions about the menu. Crowded, noisy, did I mention the food was just okay? Ooka in Doylestown is far superior and worth the drive. Get over yourselves, Oishi!
