The Council Rock Education Foundation will host its annual Outstanding Community Partner Award Breakfast on May 31 from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m. at
Honorees will be Dave Callahan, owner of , and Rick Leonetti Sr., founder of Athletes Helping Athletes. The focus of Athletes Helping Athletes is to build self-esteem for special needs individuals. The program integrates the special needs students and athletes with the goal of building a special bond.
Callahan has been involved in the school district for years, according to Marilyn Scarpa, CREF co-president. Recently, Callahan aided in the Census: Past & Present project, which “bridged the rich local history of the Newtown Community with state-of-the-art technology,” Scarpa explained. More than 220 students participated and interviewed Callahan over the course of the project.
“Both honorees have made extraordinary contributions to the children of the Council Rock School District and the community,” read a letter distributed by CREF.
