Free Historic Walking Tour To Be Held Friday

The Newtown Historic Association has organized the free tour, which will led by historian Jeffrey Marshall.

Have you ever marveled at some of the beautiful homes in the borough, looking in awe at the architectural details and fine craftsmanship? Well now is your chance to learn more about the amazing historic buildings that make our town the charming place that it is.

The Newtown Historic Association will hold a free Historic Walking Tour Friday evening at 6:30 p.m. It is an opportunity to learn about these architectural gems straight from the experts.

According to organizers, the tour starts at the Half Moon Inn on Court Street and Centre Avenue and heads east two blocks to Chancellor Street. From there, it goes up Chancellor to Jefferson Street and then East on Jefferson for one block to North Lincoln Avenue. The tour then goes down North Lincoln Avenue and back to the Half Moon Inn.

The walking tour will be lead by Jeffrey Marshall, a Newtown resident and chief officer at the Heritage Conservancy in Doylestown.  Marshall is expected to explain interesting architectural details and historical facts about the houses.

The tour explores the exterior of the buildings only. There is no fee to attend. It will be held weather permitting.
