The Newtown Hardware House is giving away free gummy worms Saturday to celebrate the opening of fishing season and their vintage fishing lure collection.

Newtown Borough's First Saturday event continues this weekend from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on State Street.  The day will feature sales and giveaways—one merchant will even be giving out free gummy worms to celebrate the opening of fishing season.

Many stores and restaurants on State Street will also host sidewalk sales, food tastings, discounts and in-store specials.
