From Dogs to Strawberries, So Much To Do Today

Need some help deciding what to do on this eventful day?

There is no shortage of fun and entertainment today in Newtown. Here's a roundup of events going on:

  • Wrightstown Elementary School's Community Yard Sale: Need some toys, books, baby gear, or electronics? Head over to , where a huge rummage sale begins at 7 a.m. and goes until noon. Proceeds benefit the school.  is also having its block-wide sale and the community has a neighborhood sale, too. Check out the Patch events calendar for details. 
  • Dog Show: Man's best friend will be in full force Saturday at the , as the Huntington Valley Kennel Club hosts its 85th Annual All-Breed Dog Show. More than 1,000 dogs and 131 different breeds will be strutting their stuff. The show begins at 9 a.m. and goes to 4:30 p.m. Admission is free, but there's a $5 parking fee. A portion of the proceeds from this event will be donated to the Abington Hospital, the University of PA Veterinary School Canine Bloodmobile, the Montgomery County SPCA and the Bucks County SPCA.
  • Strawberry Festival: The Newtown Presbyterian Church will host its annual at the Historic Church on Sycamore Street. The festival goes from 12 to 4 p.m. and will feature fresh strawberries, plus an array of tasty treats, including strawberry shortcake, baked goods, hot dogs, lemonade, birch beer and Lancaster County cheeses.  Plus, there will be live music.
  • Capelli Shop Celebration: will host a second anniversary for the Carson Scholars Fund. The celebration will be from 2 to 7 p.m. at the shop, located at 13 North State Street. It is free and open to the public. It will feature a raffle, free gelato, an art exhibit with works by local artist Steven Vainberg, new product samples, and demonstrations.
  • Takin' It to the Street: This will run from 3 to 9 p.m. at Goodnoe’s Corner between Silo Road and Durham Road. It will feature music, entertainment, refreshments, and more.  Admission is free and open to the public. All proceeds raised will go toward the Sycamore Street Community Association.
