"Holiday" parade? Which holiday are we celebrating?
Becky December 03, 2012 at 01:22 PM
Weird. I knew nothing about this until reading it just now.

Well Hanukkah starts Dec. 8. The Newtown Business Association calls the parade a "Holiday" parade I'm guessing to be inclusionary to all residents whether they celebrate Christmas or Hanukkah this month.

I see a menorah in the window of the Century 21 holiday float. I think they had it covered! Century 21 rocks!

Never knew that Santa celebrated the Jewish holidays?

Did anyone see they hobo with the Raven on his shoulder outside of Starbucks yesterday?

I'm glad that I live in a town that tries to include people of different beliefs. I'm sorry to see that there are those who aren't so welcoming. The parade was a blast, thanks to all that made it possible.

If you want to see more Hanukkah, Kwanza or anything else represented - then for heaven's sake, STEP UP. If you don't like something - change it. It's meant to be an inclusive event. Gosh, I'd like to see forums like this used to build up our neighbors, not tear them down. It was a great parade. My kids had a great time. I especially loved the Dogs & Cats Rule car and walkers. The doggie mascot gave out treats to the dogs! How cool is that?! Thanks to everyone who planned the event!

I must have missed the "Dradle" float..darn.
Peabo December 04, 2012 at 02:16 PM
I agree...was that hobo and the Raven on a float?
Jingles December 04, 2012 at 07:05 PM
I agee with Wiggly...it's a Christmas parade..so tired of everyone afraid to call it what it is....too much politically correct rhetoric. Never liked the term "Happy Holiday's"....it's Merry Christmas.
Jingles December 04, 2012 at 07:07 PM
I think the question remains....why is it a Holiday Parade...it is Christmas. It should be titled "Newtown Christmas Parade".. It is not the Macy's Holiday Parade..it is the Macy's Christmas Parade"....come on peopl take a stand! Go Wiggles!

Hobo is a little harsh, I thought it was really interesting, not sure about the residue down his back. Great Parade, sure missed the New Life Christian church's animals and enthusiasm!

The Newtown Chanukah Parade is on Sunday, December 9 at 4:30 p.m. Also, FYI Jingles, you are wrong, there is no Macy's Christmas Parade, it is the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

There was a dradle float .....what the heck kind of a Christmas Parade is that?
Chiclet December 05, 2012 at 05:50 PM
Yes...I tried to buy the guy a cup of coffe but his bird pooed all over his shoulder
Jingles December 06, 2012 at 06:54 PM
Linda,,,yes you are right I stand corrected. So why is there a separate Chanukah Parade? What about the hobo...will he be there as well?
Jingles December 06, 2012 at 06:55 PM
In fact we should have a Holiday Hobo Parade!
