'Kisses To Carleigh' To Sell Bracelets At Market Day

The Kisses to Carleigh project is raising money to plant a tree in honor of Carleigh Jones, a Council Rock student who was killed in August.

The annual Market Day event in Newtown Borough features crafters, artists, food, children's entertainment, music and -- this year -- a chance to memorialize a Council Rock student whose life was taken too soon.

Carleigh Jones, a Council Rock South student, was killed after being struck by a car on Buck Road in Northampton in August.

On Saturday, her neighbors, who have been raising money to plant a tree in her honor, will be at the craft fair selling bracelets.

"She was my children's most beloved babysitter," said neighbor Devon Sajeski.

Sajeski's children, along with a few other families, started the "Kisses to Carleigh" project to raise money to plant a tree in her honor at Elementary School in Holland, where Jones was a former student.

The families are selling the one-inch thick silicone bracelets to the community to cover the cost of the tree and apply some money toward a scholarship at Rolling Hills.

"A lot the teachers have gotten involved," Sajeski said of the project, and they "are donating a plaque for the tree."

The 35th annual Market Day will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Half Moon Inn on Court Street and Centre Ave in Newtown Borough. .
