More Than 100 Sellers Expected at Newtown Grant Garage Sale

About 120 different people will be selling items at the annual garage sale, which is scheduled for Saturday. The rain date is Sunday.

If you like a good deal, then you’ll be in your glory this weekend.

Newtown Grant’s annual garage sale will take place at the neighborhood’s Rec Center parking lot this Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon. The rain date is Sunday. Entrances to Newtown Grant are located on Durham and Eagle roads.

About 120 different people are expected to sell everything from clothing to children’s toys, furniture, household items, electronics and more, explained Brandon Wind, a resident who helps to organize the sale.

One year, someone even sold their car, Wind recalled.

Even though the sale officially starts at 8 a.m., many people come as early as 7 a.m., Wind said.

For years, residents have known the Newtown Grant garage sale to be one of the best local places to get a range of good quality items at discounted prices. “It is popular because it is a huge location with over 100 people selling in one place.  The items tend to be of a good quality and everyone loves a bargain,” Wind said.

With good weather, Wind expects anywhere from 1,500 to 2,000 shoppers at the sale. As of Tuesday afternoon, the forecast for Saturday calls for a 40 percent chance of thunderstorms. Check www.nggaragesale.com before the event to find out if the rain date will be used.

In addition to homeowners selling used wares, there will be local nonprofits at the event. Kisses for Kyle, Richboro Animal Hospital, Boy Scout Troop 99 and Reuse Your Shoes will be present.

Parking will be available at Rec Center lot. If the parking lot fills, many people park on North or South Drive, Wind said. Some people have even parked on Eagle Road; however, police will ticket vehicles that are even partially on the roadway.
