Newtown Veterans Park to Be Dedicated Saturday

The Newtown Township park, which will feature ball fields and a Veterans Memorial, is located off Durham Road across from the Clark Nature Center.

Years of planning and hard work will culminate Saturday as the township dedicates Newtown Veterans Park. The ceremony begins at 10 a.m. at the new park, located off Durham Road across the street from Clark Nature Center.

The park, located on the Woll Tract, will feature a Veterans Memorial and six ball fields, each one named after a branch of the miliary.

Ryan Varian, a 15 year old township resident and Eagle Scout candidate, coordinated the fundraising and installation of eight flag poles and a 12-foot brick wall naming the park. His efforts will earn him Eagle Scout recognition.

Ryan constructed the wall and spelled out the words “Newtown Veterans Park,” which can be seen on the wall in aluminum block lettering.

That wall will be found at the Route 413 entrance of the park, which will be located just behind Newtown Elementary School. The park will also have another entrance off of Wrights Road.
