NWS Data Confirms It Was a Soggy September

It's no secret that it was a rainy, rainy September.

Were you constantly grabbing for that umbrella last month? That’s because it was a soggy September, according to data from the National Weather Service.

According to NWS, the Philadelphia region got more than 10 inches of rain in September. That’s six and half more inches than average. Typically, the region gets less than four inches of rain in September, according to meteorologists from the NWS.

August was also extremely wet. The region got more than 19 inches of rain, which is nearly 16 inches above the average precipitation levels of three an a half inches.

2011 as a whole has been a wet year, according to NWS data. Since January, the region has received more than 52 inches of precipitation. That’s more than what we got all year in 2010, when there was 45 inches of precipitation.
