Well over 150 beers will be available for sampling, including microbrews, crafts and imports representing at least 20 countries. Among them are Scotland’s Innis & Gunn, Germany’s Radeberger, Vietnam’s Saigon, Laos’ Beerlao, Nicaragua’s Tona, Spain’s Estrella, Italy’s Peroni, Belgium’s Kira, Poland’s Tyskie and the Czech Republic’s Krusovice and Pilsner Urquell.

If beer isn’t your beverage of choice, local wineries will also be on hand to offer samples and selections for sale by the bottle. Local restaurants, like The Temperance House, Applebee's, Joey G’s, The Green Parrot and The Brick Hotel, will be there cooking up food for purchase. Several bands will also provide live entertainment.

“This type of event is a win-win for Newtown,” said Petrucci, who added that he hopes visitors plan on staying for dinner, shopping or even staying overnight at a local hotel. “We are proud to bring this wonderful event back to Newtown for the sixth year," he said.

Brewfest will be held from 12 to 5 p.m. in the grass park near the Newtown Swim Club. Parking will be available at the club and other surrounding lots. A free bus will also be providing transportation for festival patrons back and forth throughout the town during the day.

Three tiers of tickets are for sale. Nobody under 21 is permitted into Brewfest. VIP tickets are $70 and include food, a t-shirt and, of course, beer tastings.

General admission is $40. Tickets for designated drivers are $10.

“Our goal is to increase foot traffic throughout our business district and have people from all over visit our historical town,” Petrucci said.

The funds raised from it go to support local organizations, community events and business.
