Renovations Underway At Washington Crossing Park Visitor's Center

Approximately 200 people, including elected officials, park supporters, and residents, gathered for a groundbreaking ceremony Friday.

A groundbreaking ceremony to mark the start of renovations to the Washington Crossing Park Visitor's Center was held Friday morning.

Lt. Governor Jim Cawley joined members of the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission, the Friends of Washington Crossing Park, elected officials, and residents for the ceremony, which was held at the park's existing Visitor's Center on River Road. About 200 people turned out for the ceremony.

Renovations will transform the Visitor's Center into a modern, energy-efficient building that will welcome visitors to the historic site along the Delaware River, park officials said. Once renovations are complete, there will be additional space for educational programs and expanded exhibits.

Work is expected to begin on the new building within 45 days.
