Stolen Wallet Found on Roadside by Boy Scout, Police Say

A DUI, theft from a vending machine and stolen wallet are among the recent incidents reported by the Newtown Township Police Department.

Newtown Township police reported the following recent activity:

At approximately 10:15 p.m. Friday police stopped a motorist on South Sycamore Street after observing the driver commit several vehicle code violations.  At the stop, the officer arrested the driver, a 51-year-old New Hope woman, for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.  She was transported to Saint Mary Medical Center, where she agreed to submit blood for chemical testing.  Police said charges of DUI are pending the results of the blood work.

Shortly before 7 a.m. Saturday, police were dispatched to the Sunoco Service Station on Washington Avenue for a report that someone had stolen money from a vending machine on the property. Police said the caller was not able to provide an amount of money that had been taken.  The situation remains under investigation by Newtown Township police.

At approximately 9:45 a.m. Saturday, a resident of Brian Lane in Wrightstown Township reported that someone smashed his car window and took a purse that was in the car. Then around 10 a.m. a group of Boy Scouts doing a trash clean up trash along the Newtown Bypass between Newtown Gate Drive and Penns Trail reported to police that they found a wallet.  An officer retrieved the wallet and determined that it belonged to the victim from the theft on Brian Lane. Cash and credit cards were stolen from the wallet, police said.
