Sweet Corn, Ripe Tomatoes Expected at Saturday's Market

The Wrightstown Farmer's Market will be open Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1p.m. rain or shine next to the Wrightstown Township Municipal Building.

Some of summer’s most desired crops are coming into season and will be available at the local farmer’s market this weekend.

The Wrightstown Farmer’s Market will be open Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1p.m. rain or shine. It’s located at 2203 Second Street Pike, next to the Wrightstown Township Municipal Building.

Market Manager Robin Hoy said she expects farmers will be there with plenty of sweet corn and ripe tomatoes, among other crops.

Here’s a list of the veggies and fruits you can expect to find there this Saturday: corn, tomatoes, potatoes, sweet peppers, eggplant, okra,  cabbages, cucumbers, green beans, zucchini,  lettuces, summer squash, fennel, carrots, red beets, celery, scallions, mushrooms, Swiss chard, edamame, radishes, blueberries, blackberries and peaches.

In addition to fruits and veggies, there will be grass-fed beef, pasture-raised poultry, pork, eggs, goat cheeses, yogurt and butter. There will also be breads, baked goods, prepared foods, locally-roasted fair trade coffees, handmade soaps, non-toxic bug spray and even all-natural dog food and hand-crafted pottery.

Another highlight of this weekend’s market is organic nut butters.

While you're there, be sure to try your hand at this weekend’s Veggie Challenge. If you identify three out of five veggies correctly at the Foodshed Alliance table, you’ll win a “Market Buck” to spend anywhere at the market.
