Environmentalists and policy makers gathered today for a public hearing at the Chancellor Center in Newtown Borough to discuss the recently-released Governor’s Marcellus Shale Advisory Commission report. Those in attendance Wednesday said the report doesn’t go far enough and fails to adequately address the environmental risks of gas drilling.

The second annual Bucks County Duathlon will be held Sept. 4 at 7:30 a.m. in Washington Crossing Park.  The duathlon consists of a two-mile run, 10-mile bike and another two-mile run. Proceeds from the event will be split between supporting the Washington Crossing Visitor’s Center and the Missy Flynn Fund.

In a move to mitigate complaints of after hours trespassing at the municipal Skate Park, the Newtown Township Board of Supervisors on Wednesday approved the installation of a chain link fence at the park. The fence comes at no cost to the township, thanks to two local businesses who stepped up to donate it.

While the Newtown 12s team were defeated 24-12 by West Point Wednesday in the Pennsylvania Little League State Championships, they certainly have a lot to be proud of. They are the first Council Rock Little League team that has finished in the top four teams in the state for three years in a row.
