Top Five Stories of the Week: March 11 to 17

A look at the top stories that made headlines this week in Newtown.

 

5. : Local Girl Scouts held an event Sunday at Council Rock High School South to celebrate the organization's 100th anniversary. The event allowed the girls to earn a Bucks County scouting patch.

4. : Council Rock School District students have been working with therapy dog teams, which are believed to build student motivation, enhance focus and increase on-task behaviors.

3. : Charles Machion replaces Gerard O’Malley, who resigned from Newtown Borough Council last month.

2. The Council Rock Newtown Athletic Association has received permission from Newtown Township to utilize the fields at Veterans Park this spring. The park was officially  but because of problems with the quality of the grass, the fields have yet to be used.

1. : The township’s Board of Supervisors on Wednesday unanimously voted to send a letter to PennDOT requesting another meeting about the proposed rehabilitation of the Centre Avenue Bridge. On Tuesday, Newtown Borough Council took a similar action.
