Top Five Stories Of The Week: Nov. 27 to Dec. 3

A look at the top stories that made headlines this past week in Newtown.

 

Max Rosen, one of the four suspects in the Roberts Ridge vandalism case, waived his preliminary hearing Monday in front of District Judge Donald Nasshorn. The criminal mischief charge against Rosen, which was initially a third-degree felony, has been reduced to a first-degree misdemeanor.

Kyle McKessy and Wendi Thomas will each serve another one-year term as president and vice president, respectively, of the Council Rock School Board of Directors.

The Angel Tree Project, coordinated by Council Rock School District nurses and volunteer Paul Salvatore, has begun and needs your help. The project helps to grant holiday wishes for Council Rock School District families in need. The wishes of local children and their families are placed on a tag that looks like an angel. Those tags are hung on Christmas trees, which are located at the and the Northampton Library.

The area's first food truck is open for business at Carousel Village. Evan Asoudegan, 18, will serve burgers, fries, salads and shakes made from primarily local ingredients.


The borough held a Christmas tree lighting Friday evening at the Newtown Firehouse. Friday night was also "Midnight Madness" on State Street and retailers decorated for the occasion.
