A beer distributor has been proposed for the property that straddles Durham Road (Route 413) and Second Street Pike (Route 232) in Wrightstown Township. The proposed project would demolish the white, run-down residence on the corner and expand the building that formerly housed Anchor Automotive. The property is just north of CVS at the five-point intersection.

Newtown residents and business owners have collaborated to put on the Newtown Halloween Art Scene event on Oct. 22 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The day will have Halloween activities for people of all ages, including window painting, pumpkin decorating and cupcake wars.

2. Brewfest to and

The Original Newtown Brewfest will be held Saturday, Oct. 22 at the The event, sponsored by the Newtown Corporation, raises money to support local organizations and promote community events, said Brewfest chairman Mick Petrucci. It will feature more than 175 different beers of all varieties, as well as food, live entertainment and more.

Stocking Works II developers will submit two proposals seeking conditional use for a mixed-use project as early as next week, Developer Allan Smith said. One plan would utilize just the approximately six acres that comprise the former Stockburger Chevrolet site and the Sedia property. The other plan includes development of two additional acres -- the State Store property plus the adjacent municipal lot – and features additional civic amenities such as a creek walk, a public gathering space and an amphitheatre.
