The Newtown Township Environmental Advisory Council has embarked on a fundraising effort to raise money for Audubon Pennsylvania's Bird Town program. The EAC is selling Bird Town t-shirts for $10 and stuffed birds for $6 to raise the funds to pay the annual membership fee.  The Bird Town program is aimed to help communities improve their ecology and create a more sustainable environment for all beings.

Newtown Township detectives recently arrested a Lambertville man for burglarizing a home in Wrightstown Township after learning about the victims' vacation plans on Facebook. The Newtown Township Police Department announced Thursday that they arrested 36-year-old Steve Pieczynski last week in conjunction with the September burglary. Detectives tracked him down after viewing the victims' contacts on the social media site.

Newtown Borough Council has set the date for a Conditional Use Hearing for the proposed Stocking Works II mixed-use development. The hearing will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 7 at 7 p.m. at the

, a Mexican restaurant on Sycamore Street, will be closing as soon as next week and the Sycamore Grill will be taking its place. The Sycamore Grill will serve steaks, seafood and pasta. It likely be open late next month, said Joe Feraco, who is in the process of buying Lilly's.
