Week in Review: New Beginnings and a Case of the Measles

Here's a look at the news that made headlines in the past week on Newtown Patch.

Monday: News that Osama bin Laden, the mastermind behind the 9-11 terrorist attacks, was killed by U.S. Special Forces Sunday spread quickly. Newtown Patch headed to the Garden of Reflection, a memorial for the victims of the attack, 18 of which were Bucks County residents. On Monday morning, Newtown resident Skip Gittens and loved ones of 9-11 victims raised a new flag at The Garden of Reflection.

Tuesday: Northampton Township Police announced Tuesday they are seeking a man who approached a 12-year-old Council Rock student at a bus stop.  The man, riding a motorcycle, repeatedly asked the boy if he wanted a ride to school.

Wednesday: Police are also looking for a man in connection with eight burglaries that occured Wednesday in Newtown Township, Upper Makefield Township, and Lower Makefield Township. , which was updated today.

Thursday: The Bucks County Health Department on Thursday announced it identified three cases of the measles in the Council Rock School District. Students from Council Rock High School North and Newtown Middle School who have not been vaccinated for the disease will be removed from school until May 17.

Friday: On Friday, we reported about the Elephant's Eye artist tour, which will include local Newtown artist Alex Cohen. The tour starts next weekend.
