JINGLE BELL 5.3 MILE RACE

The Bucks County Road Runners Club is sponsoring the second of its Winter Series races this year on Sunday, December 15, 2013 at 9:30 AM. The 5.3 mile race will traverse through the very hilly Tyler State Park on paved trails in a roughly circular course that begins and ends at the dam near the boathouse. We are encouraging runners to contribute to the Courier-Times Give A Christmas Fund and to wear Christmas attire if in the Holiday mood. There will be plenty of refreshments and hot chocolate served after the race. Come join this fun fitness event in your beautiful state park.

1. For you new folks, we call it the Jingle Bell race because we force you to wear jingle bells. It's a Christmas theme, duh! So make sure you pick up your jingle bell and safety pin at the registration table. If you don't wear the bell, you lose valuable points. We're.watching.
2. Consistent with the Christmas theme, we are asking you to wear Christmas-themed attire. So get out your Santa hats, your reindeer antlers, your eggnog costumes, your elven-wear... anything that has to do with Christmas. We're watching.  I'll even be playing Christmas music at the boathouse. It's a Christmas race. Jingle jingle.
3. Speaking of jingle jingle, we want to set a new record for the Courier Times Give A Christmas fund. So bring your coins, dollar bills, and checkbooks. There will be a collection box at the registration table and refreshment bar. Please give generously. We're watching. And if you forget, Phil Miele will be collecting next week at his Tyler Challenge 10K race. It's Christmas. Time to not only think about peace and goodwill to man, but to do something about it, right here in your local community.
4. For you new folks, the racecourse  is simple. It's basically one big loop around the park once we cross the dam. Since this is my race, we go LEFT. You end up back where you started and the delicious snacks and hot chocolate freebies will be waiting for you.
5. We are expecting about 300 runners and so may have a staggered start to ease the congestion. More on that later.
We look forward to your participation and to a happy, safe, and well-run race. See you Sunday, December 15 at the boathouse. Race starts promptly at 9:30 AM.
