Ladies Night Out

"In the Land of Blue Burquas" Author Shares Her Story on May 9

Would you sell everything to tell a story? That's exactly what Author and Storyteller Kate McCord did. She left a high-powered business career and moved from the U.S. to Afghanistan.

"In the Land of Blue Burqas" recounts the true story of McCord living in Afghan villages while serving as a humanitarian aid worker. On May 9, she will share her experiences at "Ladies Night Out" in Washington Crossing.

After five years of building relationships with her neighbors and learning the local language, McCord became a gifted storyteller. She exchanged stories with the women behind the blue burqas, revealing their joy, pain, frustration and struggles of rebuilding their lives and war-torn villages.

Event admission: $10.00 including light refreshments. To register online or for more details, go to http://www.crossingumc.org/2014-spring-ladies-night-out or call (215) 493-4080.
