Newtown Arts Company auditions

Newtown Arts Company announces auditions for The Taffetas



 



Auditions for The Taffetas, A Musical Journey Through the
Fabulous Fifties by Rick Lewis, will take place Friday, January 31 at 6:30 p.m.
and Saturday, February 1 at 10 a.m. at the Newtown Theatre, 120 N. State
Street, Newtown PA 18940.

Director Mary Liz Ivins and Music Director Susan den Outer
are seeking four female leads for this high energy musical journey. Rehearsals
begin in February. Performances are April 3 through 9 (except Monday, April 7) at
the Newtown Theatre. Those auditioning should be prepared to sing a 1950-1960
era song. Piano accompanist provided. No CDs please and a capella discouraged.
Movement ability also will be evaluated. Age range is 18 or older.



Characters for The Taffetas include: Kaye, the oldest of the
girls who is “in charge” and the decision maker; Peggy, the second oldest, and
the model “future wife” always practicing her homemaking skills; Cheryl, the
third oldest, mixture of every high school prom queen; Donna, the youngest, the
one with her ear to the radio picking the latest tunes for the girls to sing.
