Newtown Quakers
to Host Easter Breakfast and Egg Hunt

Newtown Quaker
Meeting will host a pancake breakfast, a special Easter religious service, and
an Easter Egg Hunt at the historic Quaker Meetinghouse at 219 South Court Street on Easter morning, Sunday, April
20.  Continuing a tradition at the Quaker
Meeting, it will be ”Men Only” in the kitchen as they display their skills in
cooking their traditional hearty Quaker Pancake Breakfast, beginning at 9:00

flowers for the homebound, welcoming new babies into the Meeting, and the presentation of
replicas of an Edward Hicks’ Peaceable Kingdom painting to each young adult
who has turned 21 in the past year.  Each
will be inscribed “in recognition of your being a part of our own ‘peaceable
kingdom’ and in celebration of your attaining your majority as an adult member
of Newtown Friends Meeting.”  Newtown Meeting was co-founded by the Quaker
artist and minister, Edward Hicks, in 1815.

Nikki Loscalzo, Yardley, PA, Clerk of the Quaker

which involves 60 to 70 children.
“Adults bring a dozen or so eggs apiece,” said Nikki.  “The older students are in charge of hiding
the eggs; and the middle-schoolers will each have a toddler as a buddy to make
sure the youngest find some eggs.  At the
‘OK’ signal, they all run off with their Easter baskets, and a good time is had
by all.”
