THE GENERAL (1926)

with live accompaniment
by
The Peacherine Ragtime Orchestra

Peacherine Ragtime Orchestra recreates a turn of the century theatre
orchestra with Buster Keatons comedic silent film, The General,
originally screened at the Levoy in 1927. Take a step back in time
when the Peacherine Ragtime Orchestra returns to the Levoy Theatre to
perform the 1920s score to Buster Keaton’s comedic masterpiece,
“The General”.
Keaton plays Johnnie Gray, a southern train
engineer during the Civil War, who has his beloved locomotive, THE
GENERAL, and his girlfriend, Annabelle Lee, stolen by Union Soldiers.
A chase ensues, and Keaton saves the South, and his girl, through a
series of hilarious events. “The General” has been listed as #18
of 100 on the American Film Institute’s Greatest American Movies of
All Time, a part of Roger Ebert’s top 10 films, and listed as #1 in
a list of the greatest films of the silent-period by silentera.com
