Bucks County Housing Group is partnering with Applebee’s to recognize National Homelessness Awareness Month, which is November.
All five Applebee’s in Bucks County are participating in a “Dining to Donate” event this Tuesday as well as Nov. 19.
If you eat at Applebee’s on either of those two days, the restaurant will donate 10 percent of the bill (before tax and tip) to Bucks County Housing Group.
There are Applebee’s restaurants in Newtown, Doylestown, Southampton, Bensalem and Quakertown. Newtown's Applebee's is located at 2 West Rd in the Acme shopping center.
According to information provided by Bucks County Housing Group, there are more than 37,000 individuals, including children, who struggle with poverty in Bucks County. Fifteen percent of households with children are experiencing food hardship and one in eight families is having trouble feeding their children.
To participate in the event at Applebees’s, you need to bring a ticket to give to your server.
Tickets are available on BCHG’s website: www.bchg.org and can be printed on any printer. Interested diners may contact BCHG at 215‐598‐3566 x130 to have a ticket mailed. You can also access BCHG’s Facebook page to print out tickets.
Diners must show the ticket to participate and there is a specific ticket for each date.
BCHG, a non‐profit organization, assists homeless and low‐income families by offering programs that promote self‐sufficiency, financial security and permanent housing.
In 2012, BCHG assisted more than 378 homeless individuals (153 adults and 225 children) at one of five transitional shelters located throughout the county.
In addition, BCHG provided food to more than 2,000 families accessing one of three pantry locations.
