Love For Life Donates $80K to Abramson Cancer Center

A Love for Life was established in honor of Christine's husband Kevin who died in 2012 at the age of 51 after a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer.

A Love for Life, an organization focused on raising money for pancreatic cancer research, recently made an $80,000 contribution to the Abramson Cancer Center at The University of Pennsylvania.

"These funds were raised over the last year by way of more than 20 partnerships and coordinated efforts, such as t-shirt, hat, backpack, and magnet sales through our website, twice-monthly donation-only yoga classes run by Yogasphere at the Newtown Gap Body shop, wine tastings at Moore Brothers' wine shop in NYC and countless corporate and local sponsorships of our five dragon boats at the Dragon Boat Festival held every October in Philadelphia," said A Love for Life Founder Christine Edmonds.

"We are incredibly grateful to the volunteers who have mobilized to support this endeavor, and to all the businesses and individuals who have donated their time and money to support this cause," Edmonds said.

A Love for Life was established in honor of Christine's husband Kevin who died in 2012 at the age of 51 after a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer. Kevin's sister Nora died in 2009 from the same disease at the age of 51.

"Inspiration is felt throughout the Abramson Cancer Center. It empowers all of us to move beyond current expectations and challenge cancer on every level. The Abramson Cancer Center brings together the most brilliant minds across the campus, from basic scientists to engineers, inspiring one another to work together to solve cancer's most complex challenges and create possibilities that have never been dreamed," said Chi V. Dang, MD, PhD, Director, Abramson Cancer Center.

"Pancreatic cancer is one of the most under funded diseases by the federal government and this under funding contributes to the lethality of the disease," added Edmonds. "We are committed to raising money in a way that celebrates Kevin's love for life, family, and adventure."
