Scouts to Hold Food Drive at McCaffrey's

Cub Scout Pack 169 from Buckingham Township will be at McCaffrey's in Newtown on Saturday.

An area cub scout pack will be collecting nonperishable food donations this Saturday in Newtown.

Cub Scout Pack 169 out of Cold Spring Elementary School in Buckingham Township will be at McCaffrey's in Newtown from 10 am to 4 pm that day. McCaffrey's is located at 890 S. Eagle Rd. in the Village at Newtown Shopping Center.

The scouts will be accepting any non-perishable food items to be donated to the Doylestown Food Pantry. Items requested by the pantry include: rice, beans, flour, sugar, cereal, canned veggies and fruits, canned soups and meats, condiments, coffee, tea and school snacks for children.

Cash donations will also be accepted and will be used to buy Thanksgiving turkeys.  

The boys, ages 6 to 11, are collecting the donations as part of the Boy Scouts of America’s national Scouting for Food campaign.

“Our committee felt that there is a definite need for this service project in our community," said KP Jimmink, a leader of Pack 169. "This is a project in which the scouts can be directly involved and learn the value and rewards in helping others."
