Volunteers Needed to Assemble Thanksgiving Baskets

Philly Basket Brigade volunteers will gather at 11 a.m. on Sunday at the NAC Sports Training Center.

Help to make sure every area family has a happy Thanksgiving by donating some time or money to the local Philly Basket Brigade.

On Sunday, volunteers will gather at the Newtown Athletic Club’s sports training center to assemble Thanksgiving baskets for families in need. Click here to register to volunteer.

The Philly Basket Brigade, a chapter of the International Basket Brigade, provides a full Thanksgiving feast to local families in need in the suburbs of Philadelphia.

Volunteers will gather at 11 a.m. on Sunday at the NAC Sports Training Center, where they assemble and deliver the baskets.

“If your family is looking for a way to give thanks this Thanksgiving, please join the NAC and the Philly Basket Brigade and give your family the experience of helping others,” organizers said in an announcement on Patch.

If you can’t make it Sunday but want to help, consider a monetary donation to the effort. Donations can be made online. It only costs $35 to feed an entire family.

In 2012, the  Philly Basket Brigade fed 225 families, according to organizers. The goal this year is to feed 500 families.
