Hydraulic Fracking to be Discussed at Upcoming Forum

State Rep. Steve Santarsiero will be the featured speaker at the Newtown Township Environmental Advisory Council's forum on June 8 about hydraulic fracking.

State Rep. Steve Santarsiero will be the featured speaker at the Newtown Township Environmental Advisory Council’s forum about hydraulic fracking related to natural gas drilling.

The forum will be held June 8 from 9:30 a.m. until noon at the Newtown Township Municipal Building. The event is free and open to the public.

Santarserio serves the 31st legislative district, which includes Newtown Borough and Newtown Township as well as Yardley and Lower Makefield. He is a member of the House Committee on Environmental Resources and Energy.

“Representative Santarserio will address the legislative history related to hydraulic fracturing and gas drilling in the Marcellus Shale as well as the environmental and economic ramifications of gas drilling,” according to information from the Newtown Township Environmental Advisory Council.

Jason Hanna, a senior project manager with Langan Engineering and Environmental Services, will join Santarsiero at the forum. He will provide information about the technical aspects of gas drilling.  In this role, Hanna directs and oversees Langan’s natural gas industry services.
